ENSA (Elektra Noreste)

Electricity distributor for the eastern side of Panama City, Colón and Darién (EPM Group). In our guide it serves Condado del Rey, Altos de Panamá, Costa del Este and most of El Dorado.

Owner

• Copy of the title deed or a Public Registry certificate (valid for 1 year) in the applicant's name
• Valid national ID (or passport / immigration card for foreigners)
• No outstanding electricity debts with the distributor
• New property: occupancy permit or certificate from the municipality

Tenant

• The same as the owner (title deed or Public Registry certificate of the property)
• Copy of the lease signed with the owner
• Copy of the owner's ID

Foreigner (passport, lease, residence card)

• Valid passport or immigration card (Servicio Nacional de Migración) instead of the cédula
• If you cannot attend in person: original authorization letter (valid 6 months) with a copy of both people's IDs

Deposit and connection cost

Deposit / guarantee

If you present a good payment history certificate or credit references from the last 5 years, no deposit is charged. Without them, ENSA may ask for a security deposit of up to one (1) month of estimated consumption (per the tariff's general conditions). With a prepaid meter there is no deposit and no connection charge.

Connection / installation

Connection charge of up to B/. 16.69 (BTS rate, 2026-2030 tariff schedule, Res. AN 22031-Elec).

Official rates

BTS rate in force from 1 September to 31 December 2026 (ASEP), with the general FET discount and the October 2026 fuel adjustment.

• Fixed charge (includes the first 10 kWh): B/. 2.76 a month
• 11 to 300 kWh: B/. 0.17737 per kWh
• 301 to 750 kWh: B/. 0.24666 per kWh (only the kWh in that block)
• Over 750 kWh: B/. 0.27005 per kWh
• FET discount (state subsidy): 26.61 % to 46.19 % up to 300 kWh; a smaller additional FET in some higher ranges
• Fuel adjustment (oct 2026): B/. 0.00009 per kWh (no FET applies)

Typical monthly cost: See the examples: a 2-bedroom apartment without A/C uses about 200 kWh; with air conditioning it exceeds 600 kWh a month.

Garbage fee

In the San Miguelito district, ENSA bills the AAUD garbage fee on the electricity bill (contract from 19 Jan 2026 to 19 Jan 2031).
